Tunes from the Record Shop

Suggestions for a deeper musical dive.

We here at PRIR go through A LOT of music to find that special ‘something’ else to broadcast on our airwaves. Yup! There’s actual real people, diving through record stores, picking up weird stuff and listening to it from start to finish to find the next great thing to bring your way.

We do the hard work so you don’t have to!

Maybe you’re weird like us and enjoy a deeper dive yourself. Well until you can get to the record shop yourself may we offer three selections from our lastest dive for you to peruse?

For your listening pleasure we present 3 albums from the record shop – The Return!

So nice we've done it twice!

**Full disclaimer ** Sometimes it's weird, but when it's right ... Oh... it's right!

The OffSpring - Ixnay On The Hombre

The follow up to their smash hit … Smash the boys of Offspring delivered up another album full of catchy hooks and head banging riffs. This album was just on our list as “one to get”, but one we’ve been on the hunt for a while now. From the track 1 disclaimer, to the Samba laden intermission, to the hard rocking tracks throughout ; by the time you get done with 16 track deep dive through this album you’re sure to have found something new to throw on repeat. We know we’re enjoying the return dive.

Timid Tiger - & Pile Of Pipers

We weren’t sure what we were getting into with Timid Tiger. After purchasing the album based on the cover we came to find out that they are indie rock hop (apparently a genre) band out of Germany. We can assure you that the rock hop genre is it’s own thing, and these guys rock it hard. As ‘Combat Songs & Traffic Fights’ get’s spinning you quickly realize this is going to be a different trip than you’re used to taking on a musical expedition. While not every song is a classic, it’s refreshing to take a walk in an interesting area you’ve never been in before. Take in the audio sights and sounds that is Timid Tigers part of town.

It's not weird that you hear'd it.

It's weird they did not...

Weezer - Maladroit

Weezer’s album Maladroit is not as well known as their other works, for instance we didn’t recognize the album upon first finding it. The album does feature Island in the Sun, but other than that the remainder of the tracks have a much heavier than the Weezer you’re traditionally used to hearing on the radio. This is thanks to a line-up change that took place just prior to the recording of this album. If you’re dabbling in some Weezer, and are looking for something a bit of a transitional album may we offer up Maladroit to satisfy that craving.
